peggle. nuff said.
I initially intended for my blog to be a gamer blog but then it somehow became a combination of humorous videos, images and then links to random Internet hilarity. I’ve also been lagging on the console gaming as of late, which is just sad, so I haven’t had much to report on. I had been hearing about Peggle for months but had no idea what it was about, nor did I make the attempt to read up on...

Dragon Quest IV Review
After years of waiting, I have decided to grace the internet with my opinions of DQIV for DS.  Here we go. The year is 1997.  Eric Simon, and myself (then sporting what appear to be three long pubic hairs on my chin as my only badge of manhood) are talking RPGs.  You see, we’d both just played Final Fantasy 7, and in our young eyes, JRPGs are the bee’s knees.  Sure, I’d played...

Just When I Think I'm Out... They Pull Me Back In!
I’m beyond a doubt the worst, most irresponsible blogger on the planet right now and for this, I apologize.  Every time I think that I’ve achieved some level of academic respite I turn around and discover “oh yeah! I do have two book reviews to do this weekend!”  Academic book reviews taking precedence over game reviews.  I hope you all understand.  Both of you. So what...

Hands On: Infinite Space, A Deep Sci-Fi Experience →
It looks like I needn’t fear a science fiction drought in 2009. I’ve been excited for Infinite Space since it was called Infinite Line and I first learned about its Arthur C Clarke inspired story, deep yet simple ship customization (each part is a tetris piece, all pieces must fit together and within a certain sized grid depending on the chassis), and Macross-esque style.  Really who...

Donkey Kong 94 →
There hasn’t been much news posted recently, I apologize.  During the midterm crunch my blog is usually the first thing to get the axe in terms of my time.  I’ve been playing loads of Dragon Quest IV still and am probably ten or so hours away from completion.  The long and short of it is that I’ve been vacillating pretty heavily between whether I love it or am kind of bored by...

TimeSplitters 4 Concept Art →
That’s right folks, Free Radical feels the world is ready to have another TimeSplitters inflicted on it.  Do people actually buy these?!  Seriously, I know they typically get good reviews but they’re a half assed Unreal Tournament.  And UT3 is on consoles now!  Seriously, boycott these. Via Kotaku

I haven’t written anything on the topic of the DSi, in fact, the only real coverage that was posted was Babytoof’s brief link a few days back.  The truth of the matter is, I didn’t really necessarily know what to say, which kind of works out because the fine folks at Gamespite have put the words in my mouth.  Bite it Apple!

Gradius III →
Speaking of old school games that make you want to curl into the fetal position and cry, Gamespite did a great feature on Gradius 3.  I love this game, even though it hates me, and I have the SNES version which is the easy one!  Prepare to be kicked in the face and black out only to find yourself crawl back and ask for more.

Forbes: Hard-core Gamers Are On the Ropes →
Much ink has been spilled since the release of the wii and the explosion of mobile gaming on the eventual plight of the hardcore gamer.  I’m not sure where I stand on this issue, I’m fairly on the fence.  Allow me to try and give you my unique, passionately unpartisan view of the future. I post primarily about console games these days, with a bias towards the consoles that I own.  So...

Really, this new trend has me so stoked.  I didn’t mention anything last week on my impressions of the Studio Ghibli x Level 5 collaboration, though that’s mainly because I’m still shocked!  Miyazake-san hates video games!  Or did anyhow.  Anyhow, I’ve also been excited about Infinite Line (Infinite Space now?  Can anyone straighten this out?) for quite a while, and...

What I'm Playing
Yeah so Friday became Sunday.  My apologies dear readers!  Anyhow, I’m sure you’re all eagerly waiting for what I’m playing, so here goes.  Earlier this week I picked up a copy of Dragon Quest IV for DS, and am really loving it so far.  I’m only about 7 hours in, and am working on the third prologue quest, so I’ll keep my long winded opinions of the game and the...

My few readers may recall my bitching about Guilty Gear 2 a couple of days ago.  Well it turns out that while Arc System Works was busy turning one of my favorite 2D fighters into a Dynasty Warriors clone they also churned out a polygonal 2D fighter called Battle Fantasia.  Jeff Gerstmann got his hands on a copy and made this video of the gameplay, and I’m kind of iffy on it.  It certainly...

Happy 15th Birthday, Myst →
I remember the first time I played Myst.  Honestly, I thought it was an adventure game with fun puzzles that completely lacked the personality and charismatic characters of its contemporaries.  I guess they call that “Brain Training” now.  Anyhow, it sure was pretty, and it’s hard to deny its influence on the development of PC games, even if this particular emperor has no...

I don’t really hang out much with other gamers, I’ll just come out and say it.  I just don’t know where to find them I guess, and when I do find them, they’re typically standing across a counter from me and processing my credit card as I buy still more games.  I bring this up because it’s easy for me to get lost in my own little “gamer bubble” in which I...

Lots of big news all around folks. First, I’ve added comments. This should really serve no other purpose than to remind me of how pathetically small this community actually is. Still, comment away! Grand Theft Auto IV is the purest taste of honey. It may seem like old news now, but i feel as though a {short} review is in order. Having finally completed the game, i have truly been able to appreciate it in its entirety. I still feel this chill up my spine everytime i put the disc in and hear the opening theme song. Drm: Steam DRM Vs Spore DRM →
Just a really solid interview that Kotaku did with Doug Lombardi of Steam on the future of DRM.  I must say, I really only buy my PC games off of Steam right now, I just love the system and think they’ve really got it right.  I should mention I’m also into Blizzard’s DRM approach, which basically entails you registering your discs & keys once online, and then being able to...
